Irom Man (2008)Based on Friday estimates, it's clear that Iron Man will spend its second weekend at #1. The flick brought in around $15 million on Friday and easily beat two newcomers.

It looks as though the Cameron Diaz/Ashton Kutcher romantic comedy is going to finish in second for the weekend. Estimates have the film bringing in around $7.1 million, which means it should bring in a little more than $20 million for the weekend.

Warner Bros. can't be happy about the opening of Speed Racer which is estimated to have brought in only around $6 million for a third place finish. With a budget circling around $100 million, Racer may prove to be a sizable dud so early into the summer season.

The rest of the top 10 was pretty standard with films such as Made of Honor, Baby Mama and Forgetting Sarah Marshall finishing in the same order they did this past week.

However, after expanding to 1,379 screens, the David Mamet karate-themed Redbelt was able to land at the #10 spot.

Check back as more weekend numbers become available.

JenniegarthcelebritybabyblogcbbJennie Garth clearly adores her girls with husband Peter Facinelli -- Luca Bella, turning 11 next month, Lola Ray, 5 ½, and Fiona Eve, 19-months -- and together, this family of five seems to be perennially on cloud nine.  So what to get the mom who seemingly has it all for Mother's Day? Jennie's relatives recently found themselves facing this unique dilemma, and they came up with the perfect solution:  A key chain from Key to My Heart (that's the actual key chain pictured to the left).

Jenniegarthkeytomyheart_2Jennie received her key chain yesterday; It includes three charms, each bearing the full name of her daughters.  Other celebrity moms who have been gifted with Key to My Heart include Nicole Richie, Christina Aguilera and Marcia Cross.

Key to My Heart's charms are made with Swarovski crystals and sterling silver beads.  The charms are attached to a heart key ring, and as a family grows, new charms can easily be added.  It's an adorable and stylish way to have a subtle reminder of your kids with you, everywhere you go. Prices start at $39 and up.

Quote of the Week: This is going to be legendary, wait for it… dary. (Will Forte, How I Met Your Mother)

Song of the Week: Word Up! - Cameo (Everybody Hates Chris)

Big News of the Week: Men in Trees Canceled: I think I speak for every straight dude out there when I say, “Wait, Men in Trees was still on the air?”

Coalition Links of the Week:
With her mind fully blown by a Wire character joining the 90210 spinoff, Buzz asks which actors you'll always associate with particular characters. (BuzzSugar)

Amie shared her thoughts on MTV's The Hills' latest episode "No Place Like Home." (Daemon's TV)

The Big Bang Theory: It is interesting how the first couple episodes made it look like Leonard courting Penny would be the big theme of the show until the writers quickly learned that Sheldon was the bread and butter of the show. So we get a second Sheldon family member visit which is two more than the four other characters combined. Granted the other three trying to ask the sister out was the funniest part of the episode. Check out the latest episodes over at Innertube. You can also download or The Big Bang Theory on iTunes.

How I Met Your Mother: Yeah this Ted not talking to Barney is just not going to work out well, aside from the one funny line, this episode was a bust. It is time for the others to start an intervention. Check out the latest episodes over at Innertube. You can also download How I Met Your Mother on iTunes.

My Name Is Earl: Finally Earl is back to crossing things off his list and not so coincidentally, the show got back to being funny even if it guest stared the dude from Napoleon Dynamite. Possibly the funniest episode of the season. All the grocery allusions had me laughing throughout. And the broken finger might be the funniest sight gag on television this year. They still need to get rid of Billy though. Check out the latest episodes over at NBC.com. You can also download My Name Is Earl on iTunes.

Survivor: There is really nothing else to say but Erik is going to go down as the dumbest Survivor contestant ever, in fact, possibly the dumbest reality contestant ever. Check out the latest episode over at Innertube.

Survivor on iTunes

Lost: I am convinced that the writers decided to put in as many “what the frak” moments this week even if there is no possible why they can or will ever explain them. Just off the top of my head, they include:

- What the frak is Claire doing in the cabin and what the frak was up with her grinning?

- Why the frak is Jack’s father talking to Locke and for Jacob?

- Where the frak is Jacob?

- What the frak is with all the time skipping?

- Why the frak won’t Michael die?

- What the frak is on the dude from Smoking Aces’ arm?

- What the frak were the Hispanic and black dude doing in Locke’s flashbacks?

- Why the frak does Locke have the same last name as his birth mother (don’t adopted kids take the name of their adopted parents?)?

- How the frak do you move an island (especially after the freighter dudes came back)?

- What the frak is the contingency plan?

- Why the frak do I still watch?

Oh yeah, it is because of Not-Henry’s bemused, I don’t care what you do anymore, but I’ll just play along as if I almost do look which is basically the look I had all episode. Check out the latest episode over at ABC.com.

Lost on iTunes

Next Week’s Pick: My Name Is Earl, Thursday at 8:00 on NBC: For the shows that came back from the strike, their season premieres start rolling out this week, and looking at the list for the week, I am less than impressed by television this year. Hopefully My Name Is Earl can turn things around after a sub par year marred my jail time, comas, and little crossing off the list.

ell since we do consider ourselves mainly a sci-fi, fantasy and superhero movie site, I guess we ought to post up the new full trailer for Star Wars: Clone Wars. If you haven't heard, this will be a new ongoing CGI animated TV series, but Lucasfilm decided to launch it as a feature length animated film in theaters this summer.

I find it quite funny that one of the taglines in the trailer is "Star Wars like you've never seen it before."

Really? I've never seen huge CGI-generated vistas and thousands of CGI characters in gigantic battles before? Apparently they're assuming that no one has seen Star Wars 1, 2 or 3...

Clone Wars comes to a theater near you on August 15th.

Knight Rider

After the movie pilot for Knight Rider came and went, Vic gave it a "Not Awesome" rating, which actually meant it didn't completely suck. Some saw it as a great extension of the original show, while others thought it reminded them more of an older show that tried its hand at the super car genre, called Viper. (I really like Vipers, BTW)

I liked seeing the K.I.T.T. with new technology in a new car, even if we never heard what happened to the old one, but it just felt empty to me. Fun to watch, but I wasn't compelled by any character.

The pilot had sufficient ratings to be granted a shot at a series slot on NBC, and eerily, in an earlier post, Vic said "One can only hope they get some new writers once this thing goes weekly." It freaks me out and I put on my tin foil helmet to protect my mind from probing brain waves because it seems that NBC listened or Vic sensed something...

Why? Because NBC went out and hired Gary Scott Thompson as the Executive Producer and showrunner for Knight Rider. If you're wondering where you've heard that name before, he's the guy who brought us Vegas on NBC, and another car-centric movie: The Fast and the Furious. The first good thing about this is that Thompson is a self proclaimed motorhead.

Usually when someone comes on board a project, they pay some form of homage to the pilot or effort before it, but Thompson is taking a whole new route with his thoughts on the project.

Top Stories for the Week of May 5 - 9, 2008Ymsx

Blogs have been dishing out postmortems all week on the crashed Microsoft-Yahoo deal. Now analysis has circled inward. Is there too much news about the same stuff pasted into blogs? Are we simply repeating ourselves? And: are we simply repeating ourselves? Scott Karp has a post at Publishing 2.0 titled "The Declining Value of Redundant News Content on the Web."  Karp also has a new post at Seeking Alpha titled "The Declining Value of Redundant News Content on the Web." Right.

Angryface_2 Karp writes that Google News "is currently tracking about 2,000 versions of [the Microsoft-Yahoo] story," many of them quite similar. In "Microhoo: A Study in Web Content Pollution" at IP Democracy, Cynthia Brumfield writes: "I couldn't agree more and I hesitate to even write this post because I don't want to add to the growing level of news noise." Broadstuff looks at which blogs get cited most on Techmeme and says: "there are simply too many A and B List blogs competing for attention with the same stuff to be sustainable, there has to be a shakeout."

If you give a hoot, how do you not pollute?  Online Media Cultist recommends "content aggregators and smart people networks to help individuals filter out what is the most important." Mashable as usual is ready with the latest meta-search aggregation tools that may save the world, or destroy it, here and here.

Hillary in Black and White: Hillary Clinton is staying in the primary race and tells USA Today that she has more support than Barack Obama among "hard-working Americans, white Americans..." Well,Story_3 there it is. Pam Spaulding at Pam's House Blend takes justifiable issue with implication that hard-working and white people are not part of Obama's base and says the remark "manages to top any dog-whistle race-baiting that her husband put out on the campaign trail." Andrew Sullivan at The Daily Dish writes "If a Republican said this about a black opponent, his career would be in jeopardy for racism."

Michael Crowley at The New Republic blog The Stump says the potential for racial prejudice among some voters is an uncomfortable topic but that "everyone in politics and media has been having this conversation for more than a year now."

Leitch2 Throwing Spitballs: Sports bloggers are still howling about a recent episode of HBO's "Costas Now" show. In a live panel about sports and media, Buzz Bissingerauthor (Friday Night Lights) and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist came out throwing uppercuts at fellow panelist Will Leitch of Deadspin. Buzz opened with: "I think that blogs are dedicated to cruelty. They're dedicated to journalistic dishonesty." And it got worse from there. [Full video here. Warning: anti-blog crude language]. Leitch did his best to say blogs are just something different from newspapers and you don't need a journalism degree to have an opinion about the ballgame. But it got ugly.

Sports bloggers fired back. Top Shelf wrote: "Buzz Bissinger is an Angry, Closed-Minded Jackass." Juiced Sports Blog posted: "Buzz Bitchinger: Why He Didn't Major in Economics." Nice Guys Finish Third was just a bit kinder in suggesting "Buzz Bissinger is Gene Simmons." Bissinger cooled down and gave The Big Lead a more level-headed take on his thoughts, apologizing for his cussin'.

There have been a couple of videos that have caught my eye lately so I though I’d give them some love since the death of Musical Television left a void for a forum on the art form so here they are courtesy of YouTube. I advise you to watch them before you read my reviews if you don’t want me to spoil things. If you are interested in buying the video through iTunes, click the title link (where available, if not the link goes to YouTube where you can watch the video in full screen). If you are interested in buying the song, look for a link in the analysis.

Teenage Love Affair - Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys in eighties garb and a nightgown? Yes please. But I’m not sure what is more out of place, the inexplicable “2 Weeks Ago” or the for no reason inclusion of the epidemic in Africa. For a not out of place public service announcement check out:

All I Need - Radiohead

Radiohead tends not to get much talk on the 9th Green on account that I am not pretentious enough to care even if they are letting people download their album for free. But this video does highlight a very serious subject with human trafficking and should get you to thinking the next time you head down to Walmart to buy, well, anything. There are reasons to how Walmart and stores of its ilk can keep there prices so low and it mostly has to do with 70% of their products come from China where employees tend not to get health insurance or anything that resembles minimum wage in the USA. For more information check out End Exploitation and Trafficking.

Beat It - Fall Out Boy and John Mayer

I was on the fence for this Michael Jackson remake, but after seeing this Fall Out Boy video, I think I may fall into the dislike side. John Mayer was wise to sit this one out. Unfortunately Buster Bluth didn’t follow his lead. What’s sad is I think I can find all the MJ references in the video.

Falling Down - Scarlett Johansson

Instead of using this space to talk about boring the song and video is, I would rather talk about the recent news that Scarlett Johansson is engaged to the dude from Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Parlor. Wait, huh? How did this happen? I know I am not up on the high school gossip of rags like US Weekly, but wasn’t she dating the equaling boring dude from 40 Days and 40 Nights?
