The first of many viral marketing videos for the upcoming X-Files: I Want to Believe have been discovered. These two very short videos show both Mulder and Scully being interviewed individually about what they miss about each other. The first trailer will officially arrive online at midnight tonight, but until then, these videos will be the first to kick off the hype for this sequel. Almost everyone is currently focused on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but I know plenty of hardcore fans will always keep X-Files: I Want to Believe in the back of their mind. Once the trailer hits tomorrow, I'm sure the hype will really start to boil over. Mulder and Scully are back!
I'm not entirely sure there is too much to interpret from these videos, but it's a start. Even if you're not a big X-Files fan like me, you've got to realize how much buzz there will be for this sequel. It's been six years since the show ended and ten years since the last movie but there are still countless fans. By the time we get to July, I'm certain the buzz for The X-Files: I Want to Believe will only be second to The Dark Knight, but it will easily be one of the most buzzed about movies - I guarantee it!
The X-Files 2 is directed by X-Files creator Chris Carter and co-written by both Carter and show regular Frank Spotnitz. The film arrives after a six year hiatus following the series' finale in May of 2002. The currently untitled X-Files 2 arrives in theaters this summer on July 25th.
Stay tuned for the new trailer tonight and more X-Files: I Want to Believe buzz beginning very soon right here on FS.net!
