Election 2008: Last Debate Preview
Before the second debate, McCain's camp jumped the gun with "McCain Wins Debate" ads up hours before the debate began. This time, it was Obama's campaign's turn, accidentally emailing debate talking points to reporters (via PoliticalPunch). Matt Drudge says the memo "oddly mirrors much of the main press analysis," while Gawker says "Shock: Obama Campaign Doing Job." For a pre-debate distraction, Norway-based African Press International reported that Michelle Obama ranted against "American white racists." RedState says Michelle "admits Obama is not American" in the interview. "Wow! Talk about a red-hot temper !" says NewsBusters; RadarSite says Michelle "came out swinging--bribing actually." The Corner picked up the phone and asked the Obama campaign directly, which responded, "The answer is no. It's not real." The campaign told PoliticalPunch the interview was "100% bogus."
Poli-tainment: Gossip Girl, Stern, Moore and Maher
Gossip Girl stars Blake Lively and Penn Badgley have shown their political stripes, appearing with other young starlets and starlads in an online video done as a parody of drug prevention ads, says The Campaign Silo. It warns parents against the dangers of voting for John McCain: "Just because other people your age are doing it, doesn't make it cool." "It's a full on attack!" says Perez Hilton. Gossip Girl Insider, which has more of everything about Blake and Penn, notes that they also appear in a nonpartisan video urging people to vote with older stars such as Anne Hathway and Samuel L.
