The very first trailer for The X-Files: I Want to Believe has finally arrived! The buzz for this movie is definitely going to pick up with this trailer. It really doesn't reveal much, but still the perfect amount to start up discussion surrounding what the heck actually happens. Was that Daniel Craig I saw? No, it was just Callum Keith Rennie… I have a good feeling most of this movie is going to be centered around that frozen lake that the FBI is searching on. Doesn't it seem like Mulder and Scully are standing there at the end when they both turn and look at "something"? Hey X-Files fans makes sure you take a look at this trailer and chime in with your thoughts below! Are you excited to finally see Mulder and Scully return?
Thanks to IGN for debuting the trailer while we wait for the official site, XFiles.com, to update with their own high definition version for everyone to enjoy.

My good friend Peter over at SlashFilm was just sent a new photo from the set of Hancock. That's old news, right? Nope - it was taken in Times Square last Saturday night. How is that possible when the movie comes out in about a month? Apparently Hancock was doing very late reshoots in New York City yesterday, most likely as a result of the ratings troubles they've encountered that were detailed in this chat with director Peter Berg. Good news? Bad news? Neither really, but definitely interesting and worth noting. I think my interest in Hancock is definitely starting to increase the more I hear about it.
The photo below, taken yesterday, shows Will Smith in his leather superhero outfit that appears at the end of the most recent trailer. The report sent to Peter says that Times Square was packed with extras wearing 1980's-style brightly colored clothes. They shot for 12 hours total in order to get the updated footage that they needed. Principal photography actually finished last November and Peter Berg has been working on editing and the visual effects since then.

In the previous article that we published last week, Peter Berg had mentioned that the film "remained surprisingly sexual, violent and true in spirit to an original script," which had caused it to receive an R-rating twice from the MPAA. My guess is they hit a wall with the ratings board and had to go back and do reshoots in order to fix the issues. They can only edit, trim, and resubmit so many times before they realize the footage they have is R-rated no matter what.
If anything, this could be looked upon as a good thing. Instead of using the Fox method of crafty editing and audio dubbing, they just opted to reshoot it all from scratch. But then again, I could be missing the entire boat with my speculation and it could be a very bad thing. To be honest, I'm going to hold out and still hope for the best with Hancock. Although I hated it initially, I've flip-flopped entirely and now I'm hoping its great - especially with the more darker, violent side that Berg mentioned included.
Hancock is directed by Peter Berg, of The Rundown, Friday Night Lights, and The Kingdom previously. The film's script was written by over five different writers, including John August, Vince Gilligan, Akiva Goldsman, Vincent Ngo, and Peter Berg. Hancock arrives in theaters on July 2nd this summer - Will Smith's own 4th of July weekend spot.

The first of many viral marketing videos for the upcoming X-Files: I Want to Believe have been discovered. These two very short videos show both Mulder and Scully being interviewed individually about what they miss about each other. The first trailer will officially arrive online at midnight tonight, but until then, these videos will be the first to kick off the hype for this sequel. Almost everyone is currently focused on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but I know plenty of hardcore fans will always keep X-Files: I Want to Believe in the back of their mind. Once the trailer hits tomorrow, I'm sure the hype will really start to boil over. Mulder and Scully are back!
I'm not entirely sure there is too much to interpret from these videos, but it's a start. Even if you're not a big X-Files fan like me, you've got to realize how much buzz there will be for this sequel. It's been six years since the show ended and ten years since the last movie but there are still countless fans. By the time we get to July, I'm certain the buzz for The X-Files: I Want to Believe will only be second to The Dark Knight, but it will easily be one of the most buzzed about movies - I guarantee it!
The X-Files 2 is directed by X-Files creator Chris Carter and co-written by both Carter and show regular Frank Spotnitz. The film arrives after a six year hiatus following the series' finale in May of 2002. The currently untitled X-Files 2 arrives in theaters this summer on July 25th.
Stay tuned for the new trailer tonight and more X-Files: I Want to Believe buzz beginning very soon right here on FS.net!

Over the last few days I've received countless e-mails from people sending in the alleged Harvey Dent / Two Face photo from The Dark Knight that is supposedly official. Yes, I've seen it, yes I know what it looks like, but no, I am not going to post it. Why? Because I prefer to keep not only myself, but all of you, as spoiler free as possible. But thankfully these submissions have allowed me to pose this question today - how spoiled do you want to be? I prefer, as an avid moviegoer myself, to remain as spoiler free as possible simply because I believe the experience is enhanced when going in to see a movie with as little knowledge as possible. However, it seems that some of our readers really prefer to see or hear every last juicy spoiler from a movie themselves. What gives?
I really learned a very valuable lesson from Spider-Man 3 last year. I was so excited for the movie, more than I've ever been for anything that I literally got into a mood where I would watch, read, and soak in everything I could - which included every last clip and trailer that came out. When it became time to actually watch the movie, I had literally seen every last action sequence, fight scene, and everything else entertaining in it. What was left were the dull and tedious moments like the dance sequence and other scenes that really brought down the movie. After that travesty last year, I vowed to never over hype myself and thus stay as spoiler free as possible - the way it truly should be for all of you, too!
You have to realize my goal here at FirstShowing.net is not to be just another humdrum movie website that does the exact same as everyone else. Instead, I try to enhance your moviegoing experience in the only ways I know how: building interest and excitement, encouraging high quality theatrical experiences, and keeping everyone as spoiler free as possible. That personal touch is what I really try to bring to FS.net to make it unique. I'm trying to allow everyone to experience movies the way I do. They are my life and I love movies more than almost anything. If at the very least I can give you a glimpse into my own moviegoing experiences, than I've done a good job. That is what FS.net is about and that is why we will always remain as spoiler free as possible.
There are plenty of other websites out there, who I shall not name, that post every last bit of news that hits the web, especially spoilers. I feel like it's their mission to post them with a giant grin on their face and shove as much as they can out in front of the public and ruin the movie. It really depresses me to see this - but some people want spoilers. And that feeling has really begin to hit hard will all of these e-mails about Two Face, especially those coming from long-time readers of the site and friends. I guess I had expected them to share my same spoiler free feelings, but alas that wasn't the case. There are people who want spoilers and there are those who don't - I am, of course, the latter.
Of course, the choice to remain spoiler free or not is entirely up to you and you alone. However, it just nags me when the majority of the readers on the internet prefer to know everything when it is my goal to prevent that. Is it really that important to see and hear everything that hits in the internet, even if it is full of potential spoilers? Have you ever had an experience when you went into a movie with nearly no knowledge of what to expect and was blown away? As much as I'll encourage everyone stay spoiler free, in the end I realize that some people just can't help it. But I'll continue to preach, as much as I can, that the more spoiled you are, the worse the movie will be when you finally see it.

On May 22nd, the world has many heroes, but there is only one… Indiana Jones! Another brand new, slightly different, full trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has debuted online. It only has a few minor changes compared to the other new trailer released last Saturday, however, if you're a true Indy fan or are anxiously awaiting this movie, it is definitely worth watching. Speculation is growing on what exactly happens in the movie, but I'd rather save that discussion for later… if at all possible. Anyone have any guesses why there is a creepy guy in a jail cell who has shown up in every recent trailer? And are you getting really excited for Indiana Jones' triumphant return yet?!

The film is the fourth in the Indiana Jones series and takes place in the 1950s, around 20 years after Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull arrives in theaters this summer on May 22nd! The final poster is featured below.

After the movie pilot for Knight Rider came and went, Vic gave it a "Not Awesome" rating, which actually meant it didn't completely suck. Some saw it as a great extension of the original show, while others thought it reminded them more of an older show that tried its hand at the super car genre, called Viper. (I really like Vipers, BTW)
I liked seeing the K.I.T.T. with new technology in a new car, even if we never heard what happened to the old one, but it just felt empty to me. Fun to watch, but I wasn't compelled by any character.
The pilot had sufficient ratings to be granted a shot at a series slot on NBC, and eerily, in an earlier post, Vic said "One can only hope they get some new writers once this thing goes weekly." It freaks me out and I put on my tin foil helmet to protect my mind from probing brain waves because it seems that NBC listened or Vic sensed something...
Why? Because NBC went out and hired Gary Scott Thompson as the Executive Producer and showrunner for Knight Rider. If you're wondering where you've heard that name before, he's the guy who brought us Vegas on NBC, and another car-centric movie: The Fast and the Furious. The first good thing about this is that Thompson is a self proclaimed motorhead.
Usually when someone comes on board a project, they pay some form of homage to the pilot or effort before it, but Thompson is taking a whole new route with his thoughts on the project.

ell since we do consider ourselves mainly a sci-fi, fantasy and superhero movie site, I guess we ought to post up the new full trailer for Star Wars: Clone Wars. If you haven't heard, this will be a new ongoing CGI animated TV series, but Lucasfilm decided to launch it as a feature length animated film in theaters this summer.
I find it quite funny that one of the taglines in the trailer is "Star Wars like you've never seen it before."
Really? I've never seen huge CGI-generated vistas and thousands of CGI characters in gigantic battles before? Apparently they're assuming that no one has seen Star Wars 1, 2 or 3...
Clone Wars comes to a theater near you on August 15th.

Based on Friday estimates, it's clear that Iron Man will spend its second weekend at #1. The flick brought in around $15 million on Friday and easily beat two newcomers. It looks as though the Cameron Diaz/Ashton Kutcher romantic comedy is going to finish in second for the weekend. Estimates have the film bringing in around $7.1 million, which means it should bring in a little more than $20 million for the weekend.
Warner Bros. can't be happy about the opening of Speed Racer which is estimated to have brought in only around $6 million for a third place finish. With a budget circling around $100 million, Racer may prove to be a sizable dud so early into the summer season.
The rest of the top 10 was pretty standard with films such as Made of Honor, Baby Mama and Forgetting Sarah Marshall finishing in the same order they did this past week.
However, after expanding to 1,379 screens, the David Mamet karate-themed Redbelt was able to land at the #10 spot.
Check back as more weekend numbers become available.

As we all know, New Line Cinema folded in under Warner Brothers back in February, which also meant the converging of both of the studios' independent divisions: Warner Independent Pictures and Picturehouse. In a "surprising move" today, Warner Brothers president and COO Alan Horn announced that it was shutting down both WIP and Picturehouse instead of combining them under one banner. This is definitely a sad day for everyone at both indie studios, especially since I have a good friend who works at WIP. The status of films in development and set for release from both studios has yet to be decided, but initial speculation shows that they may just get distributed by Warner Brothers on a whole. It sounds like to me WB is becoming the real powerhouse in Hollywood now.
"With New Line now a key part of Warner Bros., we're able to handle films across the entire spectrum of genres and budgets without overlapping production, marketing and distribution infrastructures," announced Warner Bros. president and COO Alan Horn. "After much painstaking analysis, this was a difficult decision to make, but it reflects the reality of a changing marketplace and our need to prudently run our businesses with increased efficiencies. We're confident that the spirit of independent filmmaking and the opportunity to find and give a voice to new talent will continue to have a presence at Warner Bros."
